JazzFest 2012 was historic for a number of reasons. Tops on my list was the fact that the Eagles played, of course, but another reason was the crowds - Nola.com reported total attendance was estimated at 450,000, the highest number since 2003. One of the people among the thousands of attendees was my cousin Fred, who sent me some photos. Quite a few of the shots were of the art and the acts, but the gallery included some that really made me laugh. When I asked him about it, he said, "In New Orleans, men in skirts (and G-strings and pasties) is a long standing tradition." So true. But maybe it's also something about the heat, the music, the vibe... a lot of people transform at an event like Jazz Fest. They may be doctors or lawyers or rocket scientists during the rest of the year, but something comes over them at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans that just makes a man want to wear a skirt...
