Friday June, 6 is National Doughnut Day and the new Ricky Meche's Donut King 2605 Kaliste Saloom Rd. celebrated by giving away 2 classic glazed doughnuts and coffee to anyone who walked in and said, "Happy Doughnut Day".  Also, it was buy a dozen, get a dozen day, and there was no limit.  Both deals was good 6AM - 10AM.

National Doughnut Day is on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the men and women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

Today, people from all over Acadiana walked into Meche's on Kaliste Saloom Rd. with the winning phrase.  Willie Lim said, "OMG no way could we have been more busy.  Eight cash registers were open and 30 employees had been making doughnuts in preparation for this event since Thursday."  Lim went on to say, "The store was full of people, there was a line waiting to get into the building and the drive thru never had less than 20 cars in line.  We were supposed to stop the promotion at 10AM but extended it till 11AM in an attempt to serve everyone."  When it was all said and done, 15,000 doughnuts were given away, that does not include the ones that were purchased.

These videos were shot inside Acadiana's newest Meche's by an individual earlier this morning.
