The executive director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission was given another blow last night.

Ben Bertholot's home received flood damage in August, and then last night that same home went up in flames.

A neighbor called 911 after smelling and then seeing flames come from the home at 515 East Demanade Street.

Bertholot and his family were not there, as they have been living with family since the flooding at their home.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about twenty minutes.

The inside of the home along with the roof sustained heavy fire damage.

The fire originated in a rear room of the dwelling.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Bertholot seems to be taking it in stride though as he commented on Facebook, now they need an architect in addition to their contractor.
