LSSU Banned Words List Threatens To Break The Internet
You may, or may not remember George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can't Say On TV" routine, depending, perhaps, on your age. Lake Superior State University, in northern Michigan has issued its annual list of banned words. These words aren't banned for the same reasons as those on Carlin's infamous list. His was because they were considered inappropriate, or obscene. The LSSU list is because the words are considered overused, irrelevant, misused and useless according to a report from KTBS. The list includes words & phrases like "break the Internet" (which it threatened to do), "vape," "stakeholder," "presser,'' and "walk it back." I'm pretty sure I could compile a lengthy list of my own.
