For those us who love movies and are old enough to remember the heyday of the VHS tape, the video rental store was a paradise of sorts. I have fond memories of the Abbeville Blockbuster store that I visited once a week during school and at least twice a week during summer, home to not only the latest releases but also rare treasures like Nosferatu that other stores didn't carry. Eventually, VHS gave way to DVD and game cartridges to discs, but I never thought that Blockbuster would go away.

Flash forward to the digital age, which has seen most Blockbusters and similar stores fade into home video history. The last Blockbuster store in Louisiana, located in Opleousas, will be closing its doors shortly, according to The Daily Advertiser.
