Louisiana's tourism industry had a record year in 2014. KATC reports, 28.7 million visitors came to the Bayou State last year, pumping $11.2 billion into the state's economy, and generating $836 million in tax revenue. Lafayette's award winning Festival International de Louisiane has attracted steadily growing numbers of tourists to the hub city, while cultivating a reputation throughout the Francophone world.

Lt. governor Jay Dardenne said, "We're also seeing more international visitors than ever before, which is very significant because they spend more money, and stay longer, and are more curious about seeing more parts of the state,"

Morgan City's Shrimp and Petroleum Festival drew 140,00 people in 2014, infusing $8.5 million into the local economy. Tourism officials are confident 2015 will be another banner year.
