Louisiana Shipyard Receives Federal Grant
Seacraft Shipyard LLC in Amelia has received a 1.1 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The money will be used to purchase 400-ton mobile boat hoist.
U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany says this will enable Seacraft to work on larger vessels. The grant was made under a program for shipyards providing essential services to commercial and government ships.
Seacraft will buy the lift from Marine Travelift Inc. The company’s website says Seacraft is a "full service shipyard with over 35 years of experience in repairing, re-powering, refurbishing, and converting all types of aluminum and steel vessels." This is more good news for Louisiana, following the announcement of the expansion of Metal Shark Boats in Jeanerette.
