In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Raven-Symone' (who has roots in Louisiana) says that she is tired of labels, and just wants to be a "human".

How badly does she dislike labels?  She said that she is not an African-American.  Not African-American, not gay,  just a human who loves humans.  Oprah Winfrey didn't look too pleased when Raven-Symone' said that; Oprah even went on to say that Raven-Symone' was going to get a lot of 'flack' for saying that she wasn't African-American.

When I watched the above video, I couldn't help but think of John Lennon's "Imagine".  I read that the religious community flew into a tizzy in 1971 when John Lennon came out with the song because of (what was then considered) the blasphemous lyrics "Imagine there's no heaven".  It seems that Raven-Symone' connects with the basic premise presented in the song.

Could it be that Raven-Symone' is trying to change the way the world sees things one person at a time, beginning with herself?  Or is she just another celebrity who is trying to be controversial?

What are your thoughts?
