A Ventress man made a huge catch this weekend. Jim White was hunting alligator Saturday on Solitude Point in West Baton Rouge Parish. A Baton Rouge TV station reports White bagged a 13-foot, 4-inch, 760 pound gator.
It's the heaviest reported gator ever caught in Louisiana, but doesn't break any records. The state doesn't keep records for weight, only length. The record for length in Louisiana is 19 feet, 2 inches. White says this is far and away his biggest catch ever. He has 16 more tags to fill before season's end.
No matter how you keep records, that's a lot of fried alligator!
