The current estimates show that between 40,000 and 110,000 homes were damaged or destroyed as a result of the Louisiana floods. As of this past Monday, 3,000 Louisianians were still in shelters. Thirteen people have tragically died. Close to half of Louisiana's Parishes have been included in the FEMA disaster declarations. Nola.curbed.com has done a fantastic breakdown of the impact of the flooding on Louisiana, and below is a brief rundown of some of the hardest hit areas.

LIVINGSTON PARISH

It looks like Livingston Parish has been hit the hardest in Louisiana, with an estimated 75 percent of the homes being called a “total loss” in the floods according to nola.curbed.com. Two people in Livingston Parish lost their lives in the floods.

EAST BATON ROUGE

East Baton Rouge has the highest loss of life reported, with five of the thirteen deaths being from East Baton Rouge Parish. Over half of the Parish was reportedly dealing with severe flooding.

ASCENSION PARISH

The people of Ascension Parish have reportedly lost around 15,000 homes. They are still dealing with water from the rain and the Amite River. Below might be one of my favorite pictures from the flood, demonstrating our strong Louisiana and Cajun spirit.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH

Two people from Tangipahoa Parish are among the thirteen in Louisiana who have lost their lives. Tangipahoa received almost a foot and a half of rain.

LAFAYETTE

Estimates show that 1,500 homes and businesses have been affected by the flooding. Youngsville was received the worst of the damage, with 300 homes damaged severely.

Nola.curbed.com has a lot more information about the Parishes affected, and how they have been affected that you should check out HERE.
