Acadiana rapper Eric "Vicious" Johnson has been sentenced to 16 years in prison in connection with the 2012 shooting death of 43 year old Ray Ryan. The sentence is not the result of a murder conviction. Johnson was convicted, in March, of Inciting a riot with death. It's an unusual charge. The Advocate reports, he went to a Duson apartment complex, accompanied by several individuals, to seek revenge for an alleged assault the previous evening. The actual shooter has neither been charged nor identified. Johnson's attorney pleaded for a light sentence. It fell on deaf ears, as District Judge David Smith noted the rapper's five previous felony convictions. "vicious" has released several recodrings over the past 20 years, most notably, "I Ball Like Kobe," and "Meet me At The Circle K."  If you click the attached links to watch the videos, you may want to make sure the kids aren't in earshot.
