Living in Judice, Louisiana has been quite an adjustment.  Amazing how just 6 minutes from Acadiana Mall changes everything.  Water pressure, drainage or lack of, crawfish on your driveway instead of in a pot and critters, lots and lots of critters.

A few days ago, I went home a little after noon to do paperwork.  I can concentrate better and I'm more efficient working on things like that from home.

It was a beautiful day so I decided to take my work outdoors.  My backyard is small but peaceful.  The only time I really get to spend time there is when I'm watering plants, pulling weeds or washing the green stuff off the house.  This day was going to be different, I wanted to sit out in the sunshine, enjoy the sounds of the water fountains and get my work done.

My lovely neighbor that you hear me talk about on the air sometimes, Ms. Helen, told me when I first moved to Judice, "When you walk out your door, you should always look up, down, left and right".  So on this gorgeous September afternoon, like always, I heeded her advice.

But here's the thing about living in the country, when you look closely, I mean really start to check out what's looking back at you, it can truly be scary.  Now keep in mind this was during daylight, nighttime brings out a whole other gaggle of animals.  I took all these pics in under 5 minutes.  I failed to capture the butterflies, a mutant lizard type critter, two flocks of beautiful birds that flew over and several different types of bugs that were flying around, the many different species of frogs, oh, and the little black stray cat I've seen periodically but not on this particular day.
