LHSAA commissioner Eddie Bonine made the big announcement today: the "split" playoffs adopted three years ago for the sport of high school football is dissolved effective immediately.

Turns out the process by which the "split" playoffs were put into place was done so in violation of the LHSAA constitution, according to our news partners at KATC. LHSAA's legal counsel did a check and found that the process should have been voted on by the LHSAA Executive Committee. The vote in 2013 was taken of LHSAA membership. This violates article 8.7.2 of the LHSAA Constitution.

This means the traditional postseason of Classes 1A through 5A will now be the format once again.
