LHS Marching Band Earns Top Honors At US Band Championship

The Lafayette High School Marching Band is making noise among the nation's top school bands.

Under the leadership of Band Director Scotty Walker, the Mighty Lions' band placed first overall at the US Bands Southwestern Championship held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

But that wasn't all!

The LHS band--which was the only band from Louisiana at the event also earned the following accolades:

• Best Overall Guard
• Best Overall Visual
• Best Overall Effect
• Best Percussion in Large Class

The band faced fierce musical competition from 24 other bands--all of which were from Texas.
