It may not officially be "summer" but with temperatures already cracking the 90 degree mark, it's summer time in south Louisiana. And with school out, I bet the kids are already screaming things like "It's too hot!" and "I'm bored!"

Why not take them out swimming to one of our great public pools?

Lafayette Consolidated Government owns and operates four great pools throughout the Hub City. In addition to the pools being open to public swimming at designated times, there are some great activities scheduled at some of the pools.

Here is a list of the public pools in Lafayette and the days and hours each is open for public swimming.

Earl J. Chris Pool in Robichaux Center (1919 Eraste Landry Rd)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday - 2:00pm to 6:00pm

O.J. Mouton Pool (1101 Mudd Ave)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday - 2:00pm to 4:30pm

Girard Park Pool (500 Girard Park Dr)
Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday - 2:00pm to 6:00pm

M.L. King Pool (309 Cora St)
Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday - 2:00pm to 6:00pm

Admission to all public pools is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.

Morning Water Aerobics
Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 9:00am to 10:00am

Water Aerobics
Monday, Wednesday & Thursday - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Lap Swimming (once kids camp starts)
Tuesdays & Thursdsays - 11:00am to 1:00pm ($2.00)

(once kids camp ends, lap swimming will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11:30am to 1:30pm)
