Acadiana and the world has lost a true treasure. Hadley Castille, a Cajun fiddling legend from Opelousas, died this morning following a bout with cancer. Castille, 80, played Cajun music across the United States, Canada and Europe for more than 30 years.

Castille was instrumental in bringing French immersion classes into St. Landry Parish school. He received numerous awards in his career, including the Award of Excellence from the Cajun French Music Association. I saw Mr Castille perform many, many times, and he was always such a great representative about what is wonderful about the Cajun culture.

Funeral Services are pending. R.I.P. to one of the legends.
