The LEF Teacher of the Year Awards is such a special and validating the event is for teachers in our community. It is inspirational it is for parents, citizens and all educators to hear stories about what these teachers are doing in and out of the classroom. Honored teachers include an art teacher who sacrifices her off hour every day to teach a class of special education students, a football coach who pushes his students to do well in school, including an autistic student who was being bullied on the team, giving other students the chance to see him for who he really is, Early Childhood Education teachers, Lafayette's first finalist from a charter school, a speech therapist, math, science, English and several arts education teachers, a teacher of students with severe behavioral disorders, and a teacher who is a sign language interpreter for deaf students! This year's finalists are true representatives of the various aspects of our community's education system, and everyone in invited to come to the Heymann Center on Thursday, January 22, 2015 to get to know them and to see all the positive things happening in education. Tickets are $5 for students and educators and $10 general admission, and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster outlet.
