The Traffic Engineering Development Division of Lafayette Consolidated Government announced that two roads will be closed for Acadiana drivers this Thursday and Friday.

While both closures are being done for repair work in and around the roadways affected motorist will have alternate routes and detour routes available to get around the potential slowdowns.

On Thursday December 4th Pecan Grove Road just south of Walker Road in Lafayette will be closed from 6am to 6pm. This closure is to allow crews from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad the opportunity to make repairs to the railroad crossing at the location.

On Friday December 5th the Department of Public works will be closing a portion of St John Street in the downtown area. The area affected will be between West Vermilion Street and West Main Street. This closure will be in effect from 5pm to 11pm and allow LUS Wastewater Collection to perform repair operations on infrastructure.

Motorist are also reminded that many streets and roadways in and around the Oil Center will be closed or congested on the evening of Friday December 5th for the annual Festival of Light
