Lafayette Police Seek Suspect in Iberia Bank Robbery [UPDATE]

Do you recognize this man? Lafayette Police are looking for him. On May 1, 2012, at approximately 1:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the Iberia Bank, located at 2110 West Pinhook Road, regarding a bank robbery. According to detectives, the suspect entered the bank and approached a clerk. He then produced a small revolver and demanded cash. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect and the suspect then exited the front of the bank. The suspect was last seen entering a white older model white Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6’00” tall, medium build, wearing a blue blazer, glasses and a hat.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS

[UPDATE 5/2/12] Lafayette Police report they were contacted by Jeanerette Police, who took Claude James Hebert, age 37, into custody last night. Hebert was recognized in the surveillance footage by police.
