Guest may have seemed calm but all was not quiet last night for patrons of a Lafayette hotel. Last night the guests at the Extended Stay America property near Kaliste Saloom at Hugh Wallis Road were asked to leave their rooms and evacuate the building. The owners of Broaddus Burgers, located across the street from the hotel property say they were asked to evacuate as well.

According to a report on KATC TV, police officers went door to door through the hotel telling guests to leave the property. Many of the guests said they didn't even have time to grab coats or jackets before evacuating the premises. Some guests said they had to wait outside for several hours while crews investigated the scene.

The reason for the evacuation was an unspecified threat reported to be an explosive device. Lafayette Police, Fire, and Haz-Mat crews investigated the property and as of this report, no devices were found.
