Lafayette French Immersion Teacher Receives Poetry Award

Kirby Jambon, a French immersion teacher at Prairie Elementary here in Lafayette, is to be awarded the Prix Henri de Regnier from the Acadmie Franaise in Paris for his latest book of poetry, Petites Communions. Jambon is the first author from Louisiana to receive this honor.

Jambon was recently recognized at a celebration in his honor at the French Consul’s residence in New Orleans. Jambon will also be honored in a celebration at 6 PM this evening at Vermilionville. Jambon’s students will be on hand to perform one of his poems with him.

Jambon heads to Paris at the end of November to receive the Prix Henri de Regnier. Click here for more information about Jambon and the event.
