Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says a house fire at 229 Madison Street this morning was set intentionally.

Crews were called out to battle the fire, and they saw light smoke coming for the inside of the home.

Firefighters had to the force their way into that home as no one was home at the time.  They were able to quickly put the fire out.

Investigators say it appears that people were about to move into the home, and they say there was minimal fire and smoke damage.

Investigators say that several fires were set inside that home.

Trahan says they are continuing to investigate this arson.

Anyone with information on this arson case is being urged to call Lafayette Crimestoppers at 232-TIPS or the Lafayette Fire Department at 291-8710.
