Lafayette Regional Airport's 24th annual Aviation Fun Day is set for October 12,  from 9 am to 1 pm. It will be held at the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) station, 224 Tower Drive. It's a Kids only event for children aged 5-12. Attendance will be limited to the first 250 children who register. The event is structured to show children the operations and "behind-the-scenes" daily activities of a commercial airport.

Assistant Director of Aviation Michael Burrows says,  "It lets children know what it takes to operate an airport this size. Most don't realize the number of different improvement projects going on here at any given time. They are familiar with the commercial aviation side of the airport, but this lets them see much more of what happens on the general aviation side. It also lets us pique their interest about possibly pursuing a career in aviation one day."
There wIll be games and activities as well as a firefighting demonstration. A bus tour of the airfield begins at 10:45 am, and the kids will be served lunch. Pre-registration is required.
