Lafayette Airport Director Resigns Suddenly Following ‘Incident’
Aviation director Greg Roberts with the Lafayette Regional Airport resigned suddenly on Sunday following an internal incident last week at the airport’s administrative offices.
Airport Board Chairman Matt Cruse released a statement Monday saying the incident had nothing to do with passenger safety or airport operations, but it is under investigation.
Two anonymous sources tell IND Media that Roberts pulled out a mock pistol during a meeting with engineers. Roberts was placed on administrative leave on Friday, the report says, and the director submitted a one-sentence letter indicating his retirement on Sunday.
Deputy Director Mike Burrows will fill the position while the airport commission conducts a nationwide search for a replacement.
