UPDATE (11/22): TMZ further claims that Kanye was at his trainer Harley Pasternak's home at the time, when cops were called because Kanye was "acting erratically."

"We're told police called L.A. Fire, and by the time paramedics arrived Kanye was calmer...but still resistant to going to the hospital. We're told everyone -- his management and law enforcement -- convinced him it was best he go. Law enforcement sources tell us Kanye was handcuffed to a gurney during transport to the hospital...as standard protocol. We got Pasternak outside his house late Monday evening. If he knows how Kanye's doing, he's not saying much."

Kanye West was hospitalized on November 21 shortly after abruptly canceling the remaining 21 dates of his Saint Pablo Tour, according to a report from PEOPLE.

Further details from Variety indicate the "Famous" rapper was taken to a hospital after the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical welfare call this afternoon:

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a “disturbance” at about 1:20 p.m. PST on Monday. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a “medical emergency,” and West was transferred to the hospital by paramedics.

TMZ is also reporting Kanye was being “checked out by one of his doctors for severe sleep deprivation when someone — possibly the physician — decided he needed to be admitted.”

Despite several rumors from dubious unnamed sources claiming West’s mental health is in jeopardy — no doubt sparked by his onstage behavior which most recently included a pro-Donald Trump rant — those close to the rapper deny it, and say he's simply overworked.

“It’s nothing like that,” an unnamed source tells PEOPLE. “He’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work – which is extremely important to him – and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out.”
