Johnny Cash is one of only 11 people enshrined in the Rock 'n roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. I used to watch his TV show. It featured a wide variety of guests. I remember thinking how cool it was to see Johnny, Carl Perkins & Eric Clapton onstage together. He had performed concerts at prisons in the late '50s & early '60s. "Folsom Prison Blues" was a huge hit with inmates, as you can probably imagine. Johnny decided, in 1967, he wanted to make a live album at Folsom Prison. The idea met with resistance from executives at his record company. Dissension in the executive ranks at Columbia led to Johnny getting his way. He did two performances at Folsom Prison on January 13, 1968. Click here for some unique photos. "Live At Folsom Prison" would Become a landmark album.  I had the vinyl LP, and have replaced it with a CD.
