I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to John E's on Kaliste Saloom for Eat Lafayette.....  I was expecting the "typical" - but it was much more!

Yes, fried chicken, rice dressing and mustard greens is a "typical" lunch set-up, until you put it in your mouth!  POP!!!  The flavors exploded!  The batter on John E's fried chicken was very flavorful, as was the mustard greens... and the rice dressing??  I would serve that at a dinner party and tell everyone that I made it myself!  So good!

For our visit, we also had the Ahnvee Salad, which is spinach, candied walnuts, sliced strawberries, blue cheese and a homemade sugar cane vinaigrette dressing.  SO GOOD!!

Here's a recap of our visit:

They have a friendly, quaint atmosphere, and they offer a wide variety of freshly prepared Cajun dishes, daily lunch specials and soups. Rustic, simple and elegant with an array of homemade appetizers, gumbo, and their signature Bloody Marys. Catch any sporting event on one of their many flat screens! Also during your meal, finish off the night with their famous bread pudding, it's delicious!

John E's has a full bar, a few outdoor tables, and is just a quick hop from downtown Lafayette, Broussard, the South Side... easy access, with a drive thru!

The "Eat Lafayette" Special at John E's is easy:  10% off 2 entrees (of $15 or more, excludes the grilled seafood items).

Don't forget to register for the cruise for 2 while you are at John E's!
