Our newly elected Louisiana Governor, John Bel Edwards, will be sworn into office on Monday, January,11, with a full day of fun and historic activities. The voice of the LSU Tigers, Jim Hawthorne, will be the master of ceremonies for the event, and Richard O'Brien, a Purple Heart recipient who served in the U.S. Navy, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The oath of office will be administered by Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette J. Johnson. A mass will start off the day's activities, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge.The theme for the day will be 'Louisiana First.'

Entertainment will be provided by the Tulane Roots of Music, Centenary College Choir, The Victory Belles, The Livingston Parish Children's Choir, and the Louisiana National Guard Band.

American flags will be on display at the Louisiana State Capitol.  The memorial flags are being loaned by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3165 in Winnsboro, Louisiana.  The memorial flags were donated by the families of deceased veterans.

A 19 round volley of cannon salute will be provided by the 141st  Field Artillery Battalion, of the Louisiana National Guard hailing from New Orleans.  The 141st is part of the 256th Infantry Brigade of the Louisiana National Guard.  The 141st Field Artillery Battalion is the oldest continuous Field Artillery unit outside the original thirteen colonies.

A flyover is being performed by the 159th Fighter Wing of the Louisiana Air National Guard.  The 159th is located at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans.  The aircraft participating are F15C Eagles, Air to Air Superiority Fighters.  The 159th was the first Air National Guard unit in the nation to fly the F15 and dates back to WWII when it was the 122nd Observation Squadron. The "Four Ship Flyby" will be commanded by Colonel Shawn Coco, 159th Fighter Wing Commander and a graduate of Louisiana State University.
