Jindal Signs Bill Banning Speed Cameras

Governor Bobby Jindal has signed into law a bill to ban speed cameras on Louisiana interstates. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Mike Danahay of Sulphur. Danahay said it was in response to Louisiana municipalities being approached by a private company seeking to introduce the devices on interstate highways in Louisiana. Critics of traffic cameras contend they're simply a not necessarily legal monetary enterprise, rather than an effort to promote public safety. KATC reports, the Town of Welsh was planning to implement speed camera usage.  The bill takes effect Jan. 1st, 2015.
