Staffers from Gov. Bobby Jindal's office announced Wednesday the governor would hold a press conference 12:45 p.m. regarding Common Core.

No other specifics about the announcement are known.

Jindal is making the announcement shortly after receiving criticism from U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who said Jindal's opposition to the English and math standards was politically-driven.

"It's about politics, it's not about education," Duncan said Tuesday on "CBS This Morning."

Jindal once supported Common Core, Duncan noted, but he later switched his position after states began implementation of the now controversial standards.

Jindal has said he intends to take executive action to remove the Common Core from Louisiana classrooms, despite legislative support for the standards.
