My friend Jessica is still blogging, and her latest piece is titled "Mom".

Jessica decided to start blogging after one of her stories was shared on our website.  Her story was met with enthusiasm, and that encouraged her to start blogging.

On each of her blogs, she starts with a Bible quote.  This one, on Mother's Day, is quite fitting:

From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you. Psalm 71:6 New International Version (NIV)

If you have been following Jess's blog, you will know that she considers herself to be blessed to be handicapped, and, by reading her latest blog, you'll realize how blessed she feels to have her mother, Carolyn.

This is a special blog entry honoring my mom. I don’t know what I did to deserve her.  We’ve been together since September 2, 1981.  She is my protector my motivator, my caregiver she has gotten me through many tough times in my life.

Jess's Mother's Day blog reminds me of a poem, author unknown, that hung in our family's home:

To one who bears the sweetest name,

and adds a luster to the same,

who shares my joy,

who cheers when sad,

the greatest friend I've ever had,

Long life to her for there's no other,

to take the place of my dear mother. - Author Unknown

To Carolyn, and to all the mothers, whether biological or adopted, by choice or by chance, or just by want: thank you for what you do.
