John "Jaycee" Falcon and I have been friends for about 20 years. We've worked together since 1998. He's one of the most altruistic people I've ever met. Jaycee started his radio career the same way I did, working lousy hours at a small town AM radio station.

Back in December of 2004, I was leaving for the airport. I was going to spend Christmas with my mother in North Carolina. Jaycee was in the mail room, visibly upset, with tears in his eyes. He wasn't going to spend Christmas with his mother...ever again. She passed away after an asthma attack.

The following spring, he was emceeing an event at Cypress Bayou Casino, involving hundreds of motorcyclists. The "Light bulb" came on in his head. John enjoys motorcycles, but he owns enough Jeeps to open a dealership & they don't sit there like museum pieces.
There was a provision in his mother's will requesting donations to the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers at her funeral.

AJRF, the Acadiana Jeep Rally Foundation was formed. They've raised more than $300,000 to benefit the ALA through the annual "jeep jaunt".  The ALA has named Jaycee it's Louisiana Volunteer of the year. He's also featured in the October edition of Acadiana Lifestyle.

jeep jaunt is a scenic Sunday morning ride through south Louisiana, that starts at Celebrity Theaters in Broussard and winds its way to Cypress Bayou. Participants share camaraderie, and good food & music, while raising money for a good cause. The 8th annual jeep jaunt is scheduled for Oct. 20th. For more information, you can visit www.ajrf.org or call Jaycee himself at 337-849-8928.
