CNN is reporting that James Garner has died.

The television program I remember him from was "Rockford Files".  I was a little too young to really know what was going on during the show, but I sure did like the opening theme.

Garner's IMDB bio mentions that he was from Oklahoma, the son of a carpet layer, having entered the acting world in a play with a non-speaking role.  He began to learn the ins and outs of acting, and was soon on his way.

Having been successful in both television and on the big screen, he will probably best be remembered for his roles in the television programs "Maverick" and "Rockford Files".

He  was also an American Hero: a veteran.  He earned 2 Purple Heart medals, having been injured twice during the Korean War.

James Garner was 86.
