The Vermiliion Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding missing inmate, 26-year-old Carl Robert Striggow who walked away from the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center today.

Striggow was working in the jail garden program when he walked off at about 9:30 this morning.

While the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvilliion says they don't believe he should be considered armed and dangerous, they do recommend that people stay away from him and just call 911.

The Sheriff's Office reminds people in the area of the jail to make sure their children stay inside and make sure that all their doors and windows are locked.

They have an active watch and search going on for Striggow at this time, and the K9 track teams have been deployed.

He was in jail on a simple burglary charge, and his bond was set at $50,000.

He was wearing work jeans, but no shirt. He would have been walking in a northerly direction from the jail.
