Summer officially begins June 20th, but in Louisiana, it's already here.  Memorial Day is just around the corner and residents of the Louisiana  "Sportsman's Paradise " will be taking to the water in droves.  It's no coincedence that this is National Safe Boating Week.

The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is participating in national "Safe Boating Week" activities. Safe Boating Week began on Saturday and runs through Friday. Agents will be out across Acadiana  this week performing safety checks and looking for intoxicated boaters.  They will also be enforcing the requirement that a personal flotation device (life preserver) be on board a boat for all occupants.   "The two ways to make boating safe, fun and a memorable experience is to have a sober operator and to have everyone wear a personal flotation device when the vessel is underway,"   - LDWF Lt. Col. Jeff Mayne, Safe Boating Law Administrator.

Be safe & HAVE FUN!
