There is an election at the end of this month.

In fact, in case you don't remember, early voting continues today through this Saturday in Lafayette Parish.

There are two items on the ballot for the city of Lafayette so only voters in the city will decide on those two renewals.

There are two items on the ballot for all residents of the parish to decide on, and in Youngsville, in some precincts, there are two items on the ballot that are also up for renewal.

Early voting for Lafayette Parish is being held from 8:30 a.m. through 6 p.m. today through this Saturday, April 21.

You can drop by the Registrar of Voters office at 1010 Lafayette Street to cast your vote early.

The following are the two items up for renewal for all parish voters to make a decision about:

1.    PW Prop. No. 1 of 2 - 1.61 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs.  (Select 1)

Shall the Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a 1.61 mills tax on all the property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $3,665,902.11 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2019 and ending with the year 2028, for the purposes of operating, maintaining and improving the Parish Library?

2.    PW Prop. No. 2 of 2 - 1.17 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs.  (Select 1)

Shall the Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a 1.17 mills tax on all the property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $2,664,044.27 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year, for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2019 and ending with the year 2028, for the purpose of acquiring, improving, operating and maintaining the juvenile detention and juvenile rehabilitation facilities in the Parish?

The following are two tax renewals up for voters' consideration if you live in the city of Lafayette only:

1.    City of Lafayette Prop. No. 1 of 2 - 1.29 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs.  (Select 1)

Shall the City of Lafayette, State of Louisiana (the "City"), continue to levy a 1.29 mills tax on all the property subject to taxation in the City (an estimated $2,050,618.69 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2019 and ending with the year 2028, for the purpose of the maintenance of the public streets, roads and alleys within said City?

2.    City of Lafayette Prop. No. 2 of 2 - 1.92 Mills Renewal - PC - 10 Yrs.  (Select 1)

Shall the City of Lafayette, State of Louisiana (the "City") continue to levy a 1.92 mills tax on all the property subject to taxation in the City (an estimated $3,052,082.40 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2019 and ending with the year 2028, for the purpose of maintaining and operating the playgrounds, recreation centers and other recreation activities within said City?

The following is a list of the two items up for renewal in some precints in Youngsville:

1.    City of Youngsville Prop. No. 1 of 2 - 1.86 Mills Renewal - M&CC - 15 Yrs. (Select 1)

Shall the City of Youngsville, State of Louisiana (the "City"), be authorized to continue to levy a tax of one and eighty-six hundredths (1.86) mills (the "Tax") on all the property subject to taxation in the City (an estimated $264,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), for a period of fifteen (15) years beginning with the year 2019 and ending with the year 2033, for the purpose of constructing, improving, maintaining and operating fire protection facilities in the City?

2.    City of Youngsville Prop. No. 2 of 2 - 6 Mills Renewal - M&CC - 15 Yrs.  (Select 1)

NOTICE: This ballot item is in only part of this precinct; depending on your address, you might not be eligible to vote on this item. If you need further information, contact your Registrar of Voters.

Shall the City of Youngsville, State of Louisiana (the "City"), be authorized to continue to levy a tax of six (6) mills (the "Tax") on all the property subject to taxation in the City (an estimated $852,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), for a period of fifteen (15) years beginning with the year 2021 and ending with the year 2035, with the proceeds of the Tax to be dedicated and allocated in the percentages and for the following purposes: 50% for the purpose of constructing and improving waterworks facilities; and 50% for the purpose of constructing, improving, maintaining and operating fire protection facilities, including the acquisition of fire trucks and other fire protection equipment?

The general election will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
