The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah's Intermountain Medical Center has launched a study to determine if tumor DNA can be detected in blood samples. The research team, which includes radiologists and oncologists, hopes to find out if tumor DNA in blood can identify breast cancer. The study will last three years and could mean earlier detection and treatment. They say that it won't replace annual mammograms, though.
