Friday, April 5, at the Ville Platte Civic Center and Grounds, the Inaugural Biking Down South Festival gets underway, featuring music from LA Express, Johnnie Allen, Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express, and Creole Soul.

Presented by the Disabled American Veterans (Chapter 41), this inaugural event continues on Saturday, with music from LeRoy Thomas & The Zydeco Roadrunners, Big Daddy Blanchard, Alllison Collins Band and Travis Matte and the Kingpins.

Admission is $10 per person (17 and under get in for $1).  There will be youth activities inside the civic center, featuring clowns, jumps, sports/games and a live DJ.

Other activities include a boudin eating contest, a pie eating contest, and a bike show.

Proceeds from the event help support the D.A.V. Local Chapter 41 – Ville Platte; The Paraplegic Veterans Ward – V.A. Hospital Alexandria, LA; The Tee-Cottonbowl Youth Organization; Area Nursing Homes housing Veterans; and other worthy causes.
