Iberia Parish Eyes Tougher Animal Control

Dog owners in Iberia Parish may soon face tougher animal control regulations. Krista Burgett is director of Iberia Parish Animal Control. KATC reports, she has drafted an ordinance to toughen up animal control regulations in the parish.

Burgett said, "We've had bite incidents lately and are looking at lowering the risk."

The ordinance would increase fines for impoundments. Burgett says the parish wants dog owners to be more accountable, and to take greater control of their pets.
