Your dog will always want to go for a walk, but you must be the adult and know if it's safe or not.  Concrete, pavement and many other surfaces may be too hot for your dog in the summer months.

During the summer, it is very important that you take the lead when walking your dog.  Some surfaces are going to be too hot for your dog.  And know that your dog will walk on surfaces that are too hot and not really care, until it's too late.

Always feel the surface your dog will be walking on with the back of your hand.  If you can keep the back of your hand on it for at least 5 seconds, your dog will be fine.  If not, your dog will burn it's feet.

It is always safe to walk your dog on grass or at night.

As a side note, this weekend is July 4th weekend, there will be lots of fireworks.  Your dog may get spooked.  It might be a good idea to keep animals in this weekend especially between 8 PM and Midnight Saturday evening.
