This is the first I've heard of this: one of my co-workers asked me if I knew how to pronounce "Ro-Tel" properly.  I told him that I didn't know that there was another way to pronounce it!

He told me that he has heard people pronounce it "RAW-tel", instead of "ROW-tel".

Beats me.

My favorite Ro-Tel is the mild, and I use it in several dishes, from my baked beans to my chili and gumbo.  Yes, in my gumbo (Aunt Jackie taught me that one!!)

What I do know is that I am hoping that I get invited to a party for the Superbowl this Sunday, and that there is a bowl of "RAW-tel" or "ROW-tel" or "raw-TEL" (or however you want to pronounce it) mixed up with some of that hard-to-find Velveeta cheese.  I would love to dip some Fritos in that, me!

Kraft posted this yummy-sounding dip recipe on their website:

1lb.  (16 oz.) VELVEETA®, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2lb.  breakfast pork sausage, cooked, drained
1can  (10 oz.) RO*TEL Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained

MIX ingredients in microwaveable bowl.

MICROWAVE on HIGH 5 min. or until VELVEETA is completely melted, stirring after 3 min.  And THEN give me a Frito chip!!
