Everyone knows you could possibly die from boredom and/or frustration in the check-out line, but who ever suspected you could also be struck by lightning?

Lakeisha Brooks, 33, was struck by lightning while in the check-out line of an unnamed store in Houma. She sustained what appeared to be burn-marks on her left leg and right foot and was transported to Terrebonne General Medical Center. She was released after treatment.

While no one is exactly sure how the lightning made its way to floor of the store, where it left a charred, foot-wide mark next to the register, Houma police speculate the bolt was conducted through the store's sprinkler system to a metal plate on the floor.
