Houma Man Busted For DUI On Walmart Scooter

Houma Police arrested 24 year old Thomas J. Phillips Sunday for operating a Walmart motorized scooter while having a blood alcohol content of .179.

Phillips was driving the scooter down a public road and pulling a friend in a wheelchair. He told police he’d gone to the Walmart on Grand Caillou Road and decided to take the scooter for a “joy ride.” The fun ended when he failed a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer test. Phillips was arrested on charges of theft over $500 and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
