We've lost another great one.

Keith Jackson, the man whose voice and name became synonymous with college football, died Friday night at the age of 89.

He is credited for referring to the Rose Bowl as "the granddaddy of them all" and calling Michigan Stadium "The Big House."

His down to earth delivery and terms like "Whoa, Nellie" and "the big uglies" made him beloved by college football fans everywhere.

He started his sports career broadcasting football for Washington State in 1952 and joined ABC Sports when they acquired the rights for college football in 1966.  His final game was the epic Rose Bowl game between USC and Texas in 2006.

In addition to college football, Jackson also broadcast NFL and NBA games, the World Series, ten Olympics and auto racing.  He was also a mainstay on ABC's Wide World of Sports.
