Update: 31-year-old Ryan Desormeaux of Lafayette is the man police officers say they chased down early Friday morning, a chase that began on Interstate 10 near milepost 98, into the city of Lafayette, back onto the interstate then ending on Highway 95.

Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says his officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Desormeaux's pickup truck for inoperative tail lights. Leger says that's when Desormeaux tried to get away, driving from I-10, then exiting south onto Ambassador Caffery, going through roads and streets such as Pecan Grove Road, Cameron Street, Galbert Road and into Lafayette where Lafayette City Police joined in on the chase. Eventually, Chief Leger says Desormeaux was forced to stop his truck north on Highway 95.

But Desormeaux still tried to get away, as Chief Leger says he then tried to get away on foot.

The pursuit covered about 17 miles.

Desormeaux was first booked into the Acadia Parish Jail, then transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for booking on the following charges: Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Tail Lamps, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 2 Warrants for non-support.
