A Florida police officer is being called a hero after saving the life of a mother and her three children after her estranged husband shot at them.

Victoria Rosado called police and told them her husband Emmanuel opened fire inside her home, shooting her in the leg. Victoria was in the house with her three children, age 7 to 23 months where Emmanuel refused to leave.

When police arrived, Emmanuel shot at them at least twice during the standoff. Victoria had already managed to make it outside upon their arrival, but her three children were still in the house.

That's when Deputy Justin Ferrari of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office sprang into action. After he got Victoria to safety at a neighbor's house, Ferrari helped to corral her three children as they ran to him and out of the house.

After the mother and the three kids were safe and secure, Ferrari then went back to check on his fellow officers as they eventually managed to get Emmanuel to come out of a back door and surrender to police.

This definitely wasn't his their first run in with Emmanuel, who had a history of abusing Victoria.

The Sheriff's Office said that had twice before responded to the address on domestic disturbance calls, and once to another location where Emmanuel was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Amanda was airlifted to the hospital and is recovering from injuries she received as a result of the shooting while Emmanuel has been charged with three counts 1st-degree murder.

A GoFundMe page has been created in order to help Victoria and her children.
