Help Needed For WWII Tribute Tour

Monday, April 27, 2015, American Legion Post 69, 1501 Surrey St, Lafayette, La, is hosting an upcoming bus tour to the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans.  The bus will leave from Post 69 and return later that day.

WW II veterans are encouraged to participate.  The tour includes transportation to and from the museum, and a complimentary lunch.

Itinerary:

• Monday, April 27, 2015
• 6:30 am:  coffee and donuts at American Legion Post 69
• 7 am:  departure from American Legion Post 69.
• +/- 10 am:  Arrive at National D-Day Museum in NOLA
• 10 am - 2 pm:  Museum orientation and tour, with time for lunch (provided)
• +/- 2:30 pm:  Depart New Orleans
• +/- 5pm:  Arrive at American Legion Post 69

Upon return to American Legion Post 69, the veterans will be treated to a “homecoming” meal and reception.

This is where your help comes in:  you are invited (and encouraged) to help welcome home these veterans.  There will be music, food, beverages and a bunch of happy, honored (and probably tired) veterans, with big smiles on their faces.

Please plan on having your friends and family (especially the young ones) join you at 5pm at the American Legion on Surrey.  Your boss WILL let you off early from work to help us welcome these heroes home from their trip down memory lane.

Also note that the trip isn't "full" yet:  the American Legion is still searching for WWII veterans to join us on the trip.  The only qualification:  being a WWII veteran!  They could have served in any capacity during the war, even Stateside.  It's okay if they have already visited the museum, Post 69 would love to provide the opportunity for them to visit again!

And, finally, the American Legion is still accepting donations to keep the WWII Tribute Tour operating.  It costs about $2,500 per busload of veterans (and their chaperones).  If you would like to donate, contact John Rougeau at (337) 233-3296 or 371-5434.
