Happy National Vodka Day!

That's right, there's a special day set aside for vodka!...and why not! It's arguably America's most popular distilled spirit, accounting for nearly 1/4 of all national liquor sales, according to nationalvodkaday.com. Vodka's great! it mixes with almost anything you can imagine. Screwdrivers, Harvey Wallbangers, bloody Marys, vodka martinis, and an almost infinite variety of cocktails involve vodka. I think it's pretty good on the rocks. The best vodkas are, of course, fermented from potatoes. It can also be made from other neutral grains. If you walk into a bar looking for a vodka martini, don't forget to specify. I made that mistake a few years ago, after a rough night in New Orleans.
