Eric Clapton is my all time favorite rock musician. I've been a fan since I was 12, have had the pleasure of seeing him perform 10 times in several different locales. Denver, New York city, Buffalo, Houston, and New Orleans. The New York show was on my birthday, a lifelong memory. The show in Denver was in a beautiful amphitheater, called Fiddler's Green. The opening act was Buckwheat Zydeco! One of the Houston concerts was a tour with Steve Winwood, another birthday celebration. Two years ago, "Slowhand" announced he would retire from touring at age 70. He performed in New Orleans a week before his birthday that year. Thinking it might be my last opportunity, I pulled out the stops, staying at the Hyatt Regency, and buying a round of drinks for some unhappy Chicago Bear fans. Then, the announcement he'd perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival in 2014. Needless to say, I was in attendance. His website lists two US dates at Madison Square Garden in early May. They're being billed as a birthday celebration. If I've seen my lat Eric Clapton concert, I have some wonderful memories. Thank you, Mr. Clapton. Happy Birthday!
