Doran & Cawthorne Law Firm and Frank's Downtown in Opelousas have joined forces for the 8th year in a row to hold a gumbo cookoff. The annual event is held to benefit a local cancer patient. It will be held Saturday, January 25th.

This year's beneficiary is 8-month-old Brynn Reviere. She's the daughter of Shannon Stanford Reviere and Scott Rivere, of Port Barre. KATC reports, Brynn was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma in September. There will be food, drinks, dancing, a poker run,  silent and live auctions, music, kid's activity area, and lots of gumbo!

The event is free to the public. Entry fee for the cookoff is $50.00. The entry form, and more details are available here. Proceeds benefit Brynn and her family. An account has been set up at St. Landry Homestead. Checks to be payable to Brynn's Battle.
